If we Don't Regulate Capitalism It Will Dismantle Democracy!

Capitalism left to it's own devices is going to dismantle democracy and sell the pieces to the highest bidder, thats why we need a strong democracy to act as regulator of capitalism.

So how do we go about building a strong social democratic framework?

You have to counter or balance capitalism with a robust, democratic bureaucracy. 0nirevets Jan 2018 #5

Think of the bureaucracy as a cantilever anchoring a stable, fixed weight that can safely offset the wild swings of economic capitalism. Our economic system is flying out of control for the simple reason that Republicans with their anti-regulation cultists keep dismantling the bureaucratic systems that hold society together.

Modern Republicans take a two-pronged approach to achieve their ends. After taking power their first tactic is to remove loyal public servants from positions of power and put in their place sycophantic ideological loyalists. Instead of regulators, we have political insiders. As regulators they prove themselves to be dimwits, but for a while they succeed in causing damage to their assigned agencies (Rick Perry, Betsy Davos, etc.) Second, Republicans target key agencies for deep, unjustified budget cuts. They succeed with this tactic by suppressing research and by spreading deliberate disinformation and outright lies to the public, who seems ever more willing to buy in to the lies.

The only way to stop the destructive force of Republican anti-bureaucratic tactics is for voters to show up on election day. The problem with that is, the founders created a political system based on informed consent and participation of the governed. It was a romantic idea, but in the 2016 national election just 58% of voters showed up, and that was considered a "good" turnout for the US. Compare to the UK, where their numbers are in the 75% range.

For me, this subject is cliche'. Show up on election day and vote your conscience. Just do it! There is no other legal, peaceful answer.
