German officials & French dignitaries arrive at railway carriage for armistice in Compiegne after the fall of France. Fuhrer Adolf Hitler, Hermann Goering, Admiral Erich Raeder & French dignitaries arrive. Symbolic Railway Car used in 1918 for treaty ending WWI with Germany was chosen for revenge. Officials view statue of France's Marshal Ferdinand Foch. Adolf Hitler enters car to discuss treaty with France. France's Gen. Chas. Huntziger & French officials arrive, salute & sit at the table for treaty signing.~ Four years later, in August 1944 the Allies liberated Paris & after fighting into Germany, Nazi forces surrendered. May 8, 1945, Victory in Europe, V-E Day was proclaimed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armistice_of_22_June_1940

Opting for something akin to the Marshall Plan, or at least something less humiliating than what they imposed would have helped keep the German economy stronger and reduced the impact of German Nationalists in the 1920's and 30's.
