(8,900 posts)She will need years of help and love. Her family must have fell to their knees in tears upon hearing she was alive. Another tell of poor white men and how suppressed they are. Any wall build to make AmurKKKa safe should be one around white makes. Kidnappers, rapist, thugs, I thought that was only brown refugees. National emergency is white males and guns.

(2,437 posts)According to reports, her rescuers said she did not seem fearful that her captor would be looking for her. She declined food and water and was more preoccupied with the family puppy. Odd behavior for someone who watched her family be slaughtered and had been held captive by a maniac for months.Don't get me wrong, trauma affects people in many different ways and this poor girl could be in a very bad mental state. But, I agree with you Wellstone, there is more to this story.

(16,829 posts)and held hostage for almost 3 months, probably enduring repeated sexual assault. And you're suspicious of her because she declined food and water from strangers? You think that's odd behavior?
That is the most astoundingly judgmental thing I have ever read on DU.

(24,259 posts)Jayme saved herself. It sounds like she was kept in a seasonal area that was almost dead in the Winter. She was apparently left alone so she took the opportunity, escaped, went up to a person walking a dog and asked for help. That person took her to a neighbour nearby and they called the police.
So she wasn't "found" by others, she rescued herself and then got help from ordinary people who live near where she was held captive.
Yes, although from what I've read so far the police never even looked in the area, an hour away from her home where she was abducted from, credit should certainly still be given to those who have helped look for her (even though 'they' didn't find her, they tried) and yes, it's time to celebrate because she's alive and now going to be reunited with her surviving family members but these men patting each other on the back and taking credit for HER rescuing HERSELF grates on my nerves a bit.
Here's an article with more info...

(34,661 posts)very well, and yes it is populated with Summer Cabins and a few Resorts. It is great she was able to make contact with a neighbor walking a dog. And in the Winter months,it is Snowmobile Country.

(6,344 posts)The first 11-minutes was men taking credit for finding someone that found herself.
They patted themselves on the back making the press conference all about themselves.
Jayme found herself!
Finally, after 11 minutes of self-congratulations a woman honors Jayme for the courage to escape and find help for herself.
Yes, the investigators and volunteers worked hard! Great! Thank you, yet bring this into perspective and honor the young woman that found herself.

(37,648 posts)but they should have made it clear at the beginning that the remarkable girl escaped and found someone to help rescue her.
THEN they could get accolades to themselves for working the case so hard and long, which it seems like they did.
This is a wonderful ending, though. Just such great news.

(16,829 posts)EVERYONE IN WISCONSIN knows who Jayme Closs is, what she looks like, and that her parents were murdered. The woman walking the dog and the couple whose home she went to knew who she was and that she was missing. That meant Jayme could walk up to anyone and they would call the police immediately. That's worth a lot.
