Wash DC ― Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) made a surprise appearance at a Native American conference on Tuesday. Warren spoke at the National Indian Womens Supporting Each Other lunch, where she introduced Cheryl Andrews-Maltais, the chairwoman of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head Aquinnah in Mass. The event took place during an annual meeting of the National Congress of American Indians.
Warren received a standing ovation from tribal leaders and other Native attendees as she approached the stage. She called on Congress to take more action on Native issues, including the alarming number of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls, suicide rates among Native people, housing, health care and addiction. Warren has faced criticism from some Native people, but certainly not all, over her claims to Native ancestry. She never claimed citizenship in a tribe.
She was warmly welcomed at Tuesdays event. She could barely make it through the crowd of about 150 people as she was trying to leave, with attendees swarming her for photos and hugs by the door.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA) took the stage to share remarks at the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI). Read the NCAI Press Release here: https://goo.gl/EFPs2o Senator Warren Written Remarks: https://goo.gl/CQkoWz

(206,853 posts)7. And GD moves so fast that it's not unusual to see duplicates there
The only forum that prohibits duplicates is LBN. That was my first DU gig back in 2007 when I was an LBN mod.
