(10,193 posts)At the moment Turkey has good relations with Iran. Turkey also has a big problem with Kurdish terrorists and Syrian refugees so it doesn't need more trouble with it's neighbors.
Erdogan isn't beholden to Putin in any respect.

(45,677 posts)Trump is a bomber type and his people probably told him it would help his reelection chances. And he has support from Saudi Arabia and Israel on this.

(45,677 posts)At last weeks meeting, Mr. Shanahan gave an overview of the Pentagons planning, then turned to General Dunford to detail various force options, officials said. The uppermost option called for deploying 120,000 troops, which would take weeks or months to complete.
The idea was to use cyberweapons to paralyze Iran in the opening hours of any conflict, in hopes that it would obviate the need to drop any bombs or conduct a traditional attack. That plan required extensive presence inside Irans networks called implants or beacons that would pave the way for injecting destabilizing malware into Iranian systems.

(45,677 posts)but most likely the most will go to Iraq and Afghanistan, with the rest split around Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the ocean, similar to the previous Iraq wars. Last time they even had troops in the Kurdish area drawing attention away from the main invasion.
I doubt they would actually go through with it, since it was the worst case scenario.

(183,063 posts)and his TV news contributor National Security advisor is a moron. He sort of nominated a embarrassingly stupid TV news commentator to the Fed - that fizzled not because of his idiocy but because of his writings. Aaand what happened to that TV news personality going to be the UN Ambassador?

I think Trump might not have told the truth.

(11,885 posts)for profit and he will go after their oil. About as corrupt as you can get. Hope people remember this when the next election gets here, and votes all these crooks , trump and all the gop , out of office. Watch how quickly oil prices skyrocket upward. With the tariffs and another war we'll be in another bad recession so , no matter what trump tries to claim, and again like W Bush did claiming everything was ok, it will be really , really bad this time, especially because of trump. While the gop look on and do nothing.
