Related: About this forumRand Paul calls out Trump: Why are we always the patsies sending our kids there?
Rand Paul appeared on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd this morning once again. There was no pandering yet no serious probing. It led however to Paul making some statements that when evaluated to the core speaks a truth few are willing to accept.
Rand Paul very artfully criticized Trump questioning his warmongering military appointments. His prescient question is, Why are we always the patsies sending our kids there?
There is the president and then there is the presidency. The occupier of the presidency must determine how easy they want the job to be. One can be transformational, semi-transformational, timid, or a combination of them all.

(2,073 posts)That's why he's always getting led around by the nose by people who will lead him astray from his original goal of avoiding excessive involvement in foreign wars. He also doesn't have the intellectual curiosity or the work ethic to see his original policy positions through from start to finish.

(6,228 posts)1. The folks that always want to start the wars are the CHICKENHAWKS. They never go.
2. Congress writes laws that are not all-inclusive. They and theirs are always exempt. Taxes, military service, healthcare, voting, women's rights to choose and on and on.
3. If the country wants a war everybody should feel the pain. Either by serving or paying a healthy war tax. Say as much as one year in any private college.
4. Enforce the war power act! Don't let Chickenhawk presidents. WAG THE DOG when they are in political trouble at home.
5. Rewrite the Constitution to require eligibility to run for president must include military service.
I know it's all a dream but the question was asked... Why are we always the patsies sending our kids there?

(9,426 posts)who are in danger of having to serve in uniform. THEIR "kids" are always kept out of the line of fire. It is working class kids who go, the ones who joined the service to get an education of some type. The ones who believed the recruiters about the terrific opportunities just waiting for them. They are the kids who go and fight. Politicians start wars, they do not supply warriors to fight wars. Maybe if a fair draft was implemented, EVERY able bodied person was eligible to put on a uniform and fight, the politicians would think twice before sending kids overseas to fight. Are there enough doctors to supply all the "bone spur" excuses for the rich cowards?

(6,228 posts)troops were all out of the war zone.
Afghanistan they would still be paying the war tax today. That would be a deterrent.

(6,228 posts)often times finding work was the hard part. Then we had a military supplier in our small town who made the outer covers for flack jackets. Each one had to be inspected and packaged. Well within the skill levels of a physically handicap adult.

(8,856 posts)Trump is selling our troops to do Saudies to commit evil atrocities against people that already hate us. Why should their citizens die when they can bring in targets from MurKKKa. Trump said Saudi made a down payment of 1 billion for our troops. Show me a bank account. Show me a receipt. Where is it. Our children for 1 billion. Our military spending is 750 billion and rising. But a billion from the 9/11 folks is gonna put a dent in our war machine costs, and I remind you, those pushing for war pay no taxes, thank you Paul Ryan et al. I dare any one out there to say you are fine with your kids being auctioned off to die for the Saudirs. Anyone?

Is this the same Trump who wanted our troops to come home?
And did not want America to be the world's policeman?
