I usually agree with him, but he is oversimplifying things here. JudyM Jan 2020 #3

This is one of the very best short discussions on what a President of the U.S.A. can do about health problems. Especially the idea of, "Medicare for ALL". This is precise, simple to understand, and total truth. If you watch the entire 4 min, 8 seconds, my conclusion is that Lawrence O'Donnell is a brilliant commentator, who can make difficult ideas much more simple, and easier to understand. And this 4 min and 8 second video proves that beyond any doubt...K and R

Consider how our party’s priorities and dialogue have changed from the last go round. The needle moved because it became clear that the public was in favor of more progressive policies, and some states/cities run by Dems got in it - without waiting - by instituting their own versions. We need real leadership, not just going along with good enough.

For example, we have programmed our climate to destroy life on earth; only strong executive leadership can move our populace to press congress to support strong change that we desperately, at this point, need. A president can do quite a bit to move things if the public is effectively mobilized to clamor for the same policy changes.
