(4,292 posts)Assuming the world nuclear clock doesn't finish its countdown, Rep. Schiff's remarks will be the glimmer of hope for an otherwise dark era. Defendant tRump and his cadre of defenders -- elected or appointed -- will wear the mark of shame for decades if not centuries.

(2,073 posts)When I taught US citizenship classes back in the Amnesty era of the 80s, one of the Mexican students said that legal scholars have remarked at how well the Mexican constitution was written, with some saying that it was even better written than the US Constitution - but still, Mexico is a very corrupt country. After some discussion, we came to the conclusion that it wasn't just the Constitution of a nation that mattered; even more important than that was the people who put the Constitution into practice. It all boils down to what Adam Schiff said: Right and truth matter.

(23,364 posts)last night when Adam Schiff gave this speech. I was crying over my cutting as he finished. What a man. What a patriot. Were so fortunate to have him where he is.

(159 posts)He will be able to continue doing what the articles of impeachment accuse him of without any restraint.
He will be able to control our government in any way he wants for his own benefit. He will be able to work with other nations, including Russia, to influence our elections.
He will become immune to any oversight by the legislative branch.
We cannot let this happen.
