It seems to me they spend way too much time talking about the economic devastation, and not enough about the tens (soon to be hundreds) of thousands of needlessly-lost lives. The problem is, the more it plays into people’s economic anxieties, the easier it is for Trumpians to spin it as “yes, and we need to re-open the country now, so that people can go back to work and not have to be afraid anymore.”

The thing is, as long as the message isn’t that you and your loved ones are in mortal danger because of Trump’s malfeasance, the easier it is to spread the narrative that “ordinary people like you don’t need to worry about getting sick (only those other people who are old and infirm do), but you do need to worry about going broke…and the solution is to re-open now.”
