If any IG must do the bidding of the Secretary of the department in which they serve, then the entire IG program just became non-independent which is the entire purpose of having an IG program. It means entire departments can operate as they please with nobody looking over their shoulder. This is banana republic level fuckery and whether Trump is just an ignorant buffoon who didn't question Pompeo's motives or he is an active player in the fuckery, the effect is still the same.
