Putin to visit Beijing for Belt and Road forum - DW News

It’s been ten years since China launched its massive global infrastructure project - the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative. This week, representatives from more than 100 countries are gathering in Beijing to discuss the scheme, which has seen China lend billions of dollars to poorer nations, often with strict repayment conditions attached. The initiative - widely seen as a way for Beijing to assert its geopolitical might - comes against the backdrop of the devastating conflict in Israel as well as Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine. Among those attending is Russian President Vladimir Putin. In recent months, relations between China and Russia have grown in importance, with Beijing refusing to condemn Putin's war and the two countries united in their struggle to combat what they perceive as Western dominance. In this interview, China analyst Fraser Howie assesses the state of the Belt & Road ten years after its inception, as well as the significance of Putin`s expected appearance at the event.

Two dictators hungry for power, always working to consolidate their power and failing to do anything that might help keep them in power.
China in a disastrous financial mess on the brink of collapse
Russia with its lust for endless war serving up its remaining young men that might help salvage the country.

The two countries are in for decades of regression and pain
