I'm finishing up the Netflix series "Travelers"; which I really like.... and looking for what's next.

(3,433 posts)I watched the first season. I liked everyone but Rebecca Romaine. Her character was so wooden. She is a fine actress though, I liked her on Ugly Betty. Maybe I should go back and see if it improved.

(26,333 posts)I used to catch it on a shaky signal, via the CBC out of Windsor, Ontario. Now, my cable service carries the channel. If they ever drop it, I'll be watching somehow, somewhere on the internet.
The show has been running since 1960, so I'm considered to be sort of a late comer.
RazBerryBeret
(3,075 posts)it has to be great it the story line continues like that!
Siwsan
(26,333 posts)William Roache. He's in the record books, for that one. Several others have been on the show since the 70's. Actually, there are a number of very long term cast members. Some characters have disappeared for DECADES and then been brought back, played by the original actors.
The show started out as a wonderful reflection of a post WWII Northern town, outside of Manchester. Unfortunately, they are now writing it more like an American soap so the fun, relaxed and poignant story lines we've always loved are becoming scarce. Newer viewers just don't understand why we are displeased with the writing, but then they never experienced the show at it's best.

(14,276 posts)I just got done with "Sneaky Pete" (which I highly recommend).
I agree with you on "Travelers". I am moving onto that after I get through my Larry David fix.
RazBerryBeret
(3,075 posts)loved that too! hadn't expected much, because I'd heard nothing about it, but it hooked me.
Curb Your Enthusiasm will have to be on the list, I have heard quite a bit about that one!

(66,530 posts)It got me through the 'W' years with my sanity intact.
Note: you can quit after the end of Season Four, if you like. Aaron Sorkin (writer and creator) and Tommy Schlamme (director) quit after that, and the series went way downhill.
One more thing: watch with caution. The White House presented in the show may make you depressed that it's not that way in real life...
RazBerryBeret
(3,075 posts)and seasons 1-4!

(2,923 posts)I came across this show one night at motel in Saugatuck, Michigan. Binge watched a bunch of episodes, I don't have a TV at home, if this comes out for sale on DVD I buying the whole series to view at a later time. What a great show.

(3,075 posts)Super interesting and a bit weird! Those Royal families!!
I was into the royal-historical for a while... Reign, the Tudors, Versailles, the Crown, Medici.... all great. and fascinating. I found myself googling quite a bit--Did that really happen?? most of the time they were factual.

(6,283 posts).... Is hilarious. I also like the new series The Guest Book, which employs a similar type of humor. Best comedy series ever in that vein? Hands down My Name Is Earl.

Zorro
(15,757 posts)Grabs you in the very first episode and doesn't let go through seven entire seasons. IMHO better than either The Wire or The Sopranos.
Justified is pretty unique and entertaining, too. Both are on Amazon Prime.
RazBerryBeret
(3,075 posts)thanks for that suggestion, and then Justified--I've seen the ads for that but have yet to watch.

(33,059 posts)POI Starts as a Sci-fi police procedural, then about artificial intelligence after 9/11 then about government & watching.
Fringe is Sci-fi and police procedural mix. The episode, The White Tulip S2, ep18 is the finest meditation on love, loss and forgiveness I've ever seen on TV
RazBerryBeret

2. Deadwood

4. The Wire
5. The Good Wife (just started this one - caught me by surprise - really enjoying it!)
Sneaky Pete was really great - wish they'd come up with another round of it.
Also enjoyed Goliath - Billy Bob was spectacular in it!

(60,010 posts)The Good Wife had incredible writing, and the sequel is written by the same people.
The guy who wrote the Wire, David Simon, also wrote this season's hit, The Deuce. It will suck you in. I found it marvelous.
Here is a list of his other shows, every one is fantastic.

Also, give Good Behavior a try. Features Michelle Dockery (late of Downton Abbey) in a seriously dark comedy.
