Name a song with a girl's name in the title

Jennie Lee - Jan and Arnie

Jan Berry, Arnie Ginsburg and Dean Torrence were in a band called The Barons when they got the idea for this song.

Clair
Gilbert O'Sullivan

[Verse 1]
Clair, the moment I met you, I swear
I felt as if something, somewhere
Had happened to me, which I couldn't see
And then, the moment I met you, again
I knew in my heart that we were friends
It had to be so, it couldn't be, No
But try as hard as I might do, I don't know why
You get to me in a way I can't describe
Words mean so little when you look up and smile
I don't care what people say
To me, you're more than a child

[Chorus]
Oh, Clair
Clair

[Verse 2]
Clair, if ever a moment so rare
Was captured for all to compare
That moment is you in all that you do
But why in spite of our age difference do I cry
Each time I leave you I feel I could die
Nothing means more to me than hearing you say
"I'm going to marry you
Will you marry me, Uncle Ray"

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]
Clair, I've told you before "Don't you dare"
"Get back into bed"
"Can't you see that it's late"
"No you can't have a drink"
"Oh, alright then, but wait just a minute"
While I, in an effort to babysit, catch up my breath
What there is left of it
You can be murderer at this hour of the day
But in the morning this hour will seem a lifetime away

[Chorus]

"Laura" is a 1945 popular song. The music was composed by David Raksin for the 1944 movie Laura starring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews, and is heard frequently in the movie. The lyrics were written by Johnny Mercer after the film had made the tune popular. According to Mercer, he had not yet seen the movie when he wrote the lyrics, but was aware that it was a romantic, somewhat haunting story.

The song has become a jazz standard, with more than 400 known recordings.[1] Some of the best-known versions are by Woody Herman, Dave Brubeck, Johnny Johnston, Emil Newman, David Rose, Billy Eckstine, Charlie Parker, J. J. Johnson, Carly Simon, Frank Sinatra[2] and Julie London (included on her 1955 debut album Julie Is Her Name, Vol. 1). The first 10 notes of the song are sometimes "quoted" during jazz solos, especially since Dizzy Gillespie did it during his "Perdido" solo at the famous Massey Hall concert in 1953.

And for a second, Eleanor Rigby.

How about Oh My Darling, Clementine.

TRADITIONAL LYRICS & VERSES

Oh My Darling Clementine Lyrics

Near a cavern, across from a canyon,
Excavating for a mine,
Lived a miner, forty-niner
And his daughter Clementine

CHORUS
Oh my Darling, Oh my Darling,
Oh my Darling Clementine.
You are lost and gone forever,
Dreadful sorry, Clementine.

Light she was and like a fairy,
And her shoes were number nine
Herring boxes without topses
Sandals were for Clementine.
CHORUS:

Drove she ducklings to the water
Every morning just at nine,
Hit her foot against a splinter
Fell into the foaming brine.
CHORUS:

Ruby lips above the water,
Blowing bubbles soft and fine,
But alas, I was no swimmer,
So I lost my Clementine.
CHORUS:

Then the miner, forty-niner,
Soon began to peak and pine,
Thought he oughter join his daughter,
Now he's with his Clementine.
CHORUS:

In the church yard in the canyon
Where the myrtle doth entwine
There grows roses and other posies
Fertilized by Clementine.
CHORUS:

Talk about a run of bad luck. Dang

73. Ariel - the only Billboard Top 40 song to contain the word 'Paramus'
Mon Jan 8, 2018, 07:53 PM
Jan 2018

Ariel
Dean Friedman

Lyrics
Way on the other side of the Hudson
Deep in the bosom of suburbia
I met a young girl she sang mighty fine
Tears on my pillow and Ave Maria
Standing by the water fall in Paramus Park

She was working for the friends of BAI
She was collecting quarters in a paper cup
She was looking for change and so was I
She was a Jewish girl, I fell in love with her

She wrote her number on the back of my hand
I called her up, I was all out of breath
I said, "Come hear me play in my rock and roll band"
I took a shower and I put on my best blue jeans

I picked her up in my new V double you van
She wore a peasant blouse with nothing underneath
I said "Hi", she said, "yeah, I guess I am"
Ariel, Ariel

We had a little time, we were real hungry
We went to Dairy Queen for something to eat
She had some onion rings, she had a pickle
She forgot to tell me how she didn't eat meat

I had a gig in the American Legion hall
It was a dance for the Volunteer Ambulance Corps
she was sitting in a corner against the wall
She would smile and I melted all over the floor

I took her home with me, we watched some TV
Annette Funicello and some guy going steady
I started fooling around with the verticle
We got the munchies so I made some spaghetti

We sat and we talked into the night
While channel 2 was signing off the air
I found the softness of a mouth
We made love, the bombs bursting in air
Ariel, Ariel, Ariel, Ariel

Way on the other side of the Hudson
Deep in the bosom of suburbia
I met a young girl
She sang mighty fine
Tears on my pillow and Ave Maria

was written for Judy Collins. Frankly I did not know who Judy Collins is, but she has a great voice. Don't know how I missed her.

I figured this out listening to old Alice Cooper and noting Hello Hooray was a cover of Judy Collins' song.

known as The Pastime.

The lyrics do include a girl called Linda Lou, but her name isn't in the title.
(In the Lynyrd Skynyrd song the bar's name was changed to The Jug)

However, in my opinion, it's one of the best rock & roll songs of all time....I LOVE it!

Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy,
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola

Well, I'm not dumb but I don't understand
Why she walk like a woman and talk like a man
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola

Расцветали яблони и груши
Поплыли туманы над рекой.
Выходила на берег Катюша,
На высокий берег на крутой.

A girl is a child. I think you mean "woman." If you said "Name a song with a boy's name in the title" would you mean songs about men? It's confusing.

...on every relationship/dating situation I've been in, and whether I was ever involved with a girl whose name didn't appear in a song title.

I can only think of two -- and, in one of those cases, that was her "unofficial" name she picked because she didn't like her birth name (which did appear in a title).
