(25,813 posts)Did Romney name his dog after this song?
This seems very surreal.....
Pretty sure Mitt was a big fan of psychedelic music back in the day!

(25,813 posts)Romney was about 36 when he strapped Seamus to the roof of his car.
I know he's straight laced, but I'm sure there is a radio or something somewhere in his life. This event happened in 1983.....
I never heard that Pink Floyd tune, from 1971 but Romney is almost 10 years older than me.
Did he hear that tune before he named his dog Seamus or did it just become a self-fulfilling prophecy?

(12,174 posts)Title track from a 1987 album by Brackeen, a great pianist and composer. I'm very happy that she's been named a 2018 NEA Jazz Master! Congrats, Joanne!! A great honor and a long time coming.
The title track opens with a recording of the composer calling for her (presumably now-pushing-up-daisies) doggie, who yips in response. Pretty cute -- then it segues into some smoking jazz by a fantastic quintet led by this under-appreciated jazz genius.
The album features young (at the time) lions Branford Marsalis (alto and soprano saxophones, not his usual tenor) and Terence Blanchard (trumpet), along with Al Foster (drums) and Cecil McBee (bass). Well worth a listen.
