(10,193 posts)involved in the D-Day weather forecasts. After the war he went to Harvard on the GI Bill for his BS, MS and PhD. The Vietnam era GI Bill helped pay for my MS.
When I was growing up in an Army family in the 50s I viewed Ike as a godlike figure. I have always held him in the highest regard.

(16,646 posts)But I couldn't imagine what kind of pressure he was under that day. The planning went on forever, and much of it was predicting an even worse outcome that occurred. It must have been awful to think everyday about what you were going to order men to do that. day.
