Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAre we still using n/t to mean no text? I see it declining. I think I'll stop too.

PS: Changed my mind! I'm going to continue to use n/t. I see it as a courtesy to just let others know it's just a comment.

(34,140 posts)but I think it is not as useful. If you have a sigline the message area shows up anyway doesn't it? It was very helpful to me when we had terrible Internet speeds so there may still be people who need that help? We just got our new speeds a few months ago, it is a totally different experience. I hope you find out here because I have begun to wonder too.

(14,629 posts)It sucks if you are accessing DU by phone and have a slow connection, then try to read posts with nothing in the message box.

(6,139 posts)It's really frustrating to view a post subject and find that there's no text.

It's just a nicety. It's kind of like saying "Bless You" when someone sneezes. I often don't because it wasn't a thing in my world as a child. I actually feel sort of silly saying it. I don't think I really have the power to bestow blessings on people.

(58,793 posts)"n/t" is less annoying than...
those people who repeat the title of a post in the first line of the post.
