Are axe throwing establishments a new thing?

There are apparently two in my little city that i didn't even know about until i saw the headline in the local fish wrap "Axe throwing businesses seek liquor licenses" . Of course where i live we are usually a few years behind major trends. I'm going to have to try it out, it sounds like something different to try. These are both indoor places. Has anyone done this at one of these businesses?

Peace

When I was back east visiting family they took me by one. Seems like a really bad idea.

Some family members of mine and I discussed on FB going to one. I jokingly pointed out that they seem like a reputable company considering the big picture that loads at the top of the site for the local one was nothing but people holding beer in one hand and an axe in the other.

I had a Native American neighbor once who thought I should add axe-throwing to my children's magic show that I perform. I kind of wish I had taken him up on his teaching me at least. I could impress the fam.
