Has anyone here seen the movie "Elysium" with Jodie Foster?

Just watched this movie this afternoon. A futuristic story that takes place in the year 2154, where the Earth is left in environmental ruins. The ultra wealthy people have all escaped to live a charmed life in a luxurious satellite habitat, while the poor people who are left behind must eke out a hardscrabble life on the ruined Earth. Takes on issues such as overpopulation, inadequate health care, social justice, worker exploitation, and social class disparity.

Really makes you think! I could see this happening if we continue to be ruled by Republicans.

And the topical issues were developed in a believable manner.

It is well done, and a plausible future under oligarchic rule, except I think the climate catastrophe is coming sooner and worse than it depicts. I think--given our current path--it will not only destroy societies but also the human race. Maybe even life on the planet.

5. Good film. It is by the same director who did "District 9."

I recommend it if you haven't seen it already.

Another good one in a similar vein is the film, "Moon."

... for a good movie. For instance, I have a vivid memory of African Queen which I saw when I was in elementary school.

No way are we going to get off the planet in time for its collapse. I also am one who liked the way the ideas were developed, especially about social and economic inequity.
