Just watched this movie this afternoon. A futuristic story that takes place in the year 2154, where the Earth is left in environmental ruins. The ultra wealthy people have all escaped to live a charmed life in a luxurious satellite habitat, while the poor people who are left behind must eke out a hardscrabble life on the ruined Earth. Takes on issues such as overpopulation, inadequate health care, social justice, worker exploitation, and social class disparity.
Really makes you think! I could see this happening if we continue to be ruled by Republicans.

(6,709 posts)It is well done, and a plausible future under oligarchic rule, except I think the climate catastrophe is coming sooner and worse than it depicts. I think--given our current path--it will not only destroy societies but also the human race. Maybe even life on the planet.

Another good one in a similar vein is the film, "Moon."
