(21,010 posts)it was inches over a foot long. in a bout 30 sec, it disappeared from the patio. probably made a bee line to the lake.

(29,294 posts)and their squirming and long claws make it a real challenge. My hands were torn up for a month after my last encounter. Decided to carry gloves in my car after that. Cant leave em to get hit on this fast street, theyre close to being an endangered species.

(29,294 posts)Just the luck of the draw, but same impulse to save, right? Last time I did it was at the start of rush hour, and it was a bit uncomfortable holding up 3 lanes of traffic, my car with flashers on, its so awkward and cumbersome holding this heavy creature away from your body as its clawing at your hands and arms while youre trying to be quick about carrying it off to safety. Probably looked pretty comical, in a way.
