The only way I can explain this fantastic Greta Van Fleet performance is that Creedence Clearwater Revival must've made a wish to be younger on a Zoltar machine, then got the love child of Roger Daltrey and Geddy Lee to sing lead on a song Bob Dylan forgot to write in 1974.

(33,643 posts)Singer is more reminiscent of Robert Plant than Geddy Lee to me overall (esp. considering their body of work as opposed to just this one ... though it's also pretty Plant-like lol) but I guess I can hear some Geddy too ... along with lots of other Rock singers from the 70's and 80's in particular
I've heard all their songs to date, and cannot say that their lyrics anywhere near the caliber of Bob Dylan's. Not close to Zeppelin's or Rush's either.
I do have high hopes for them, though, they're very young and talented, and I dig a bunch of their songs so far, and look forward to seeing them develop into something great ... I think they got a decent shot at it.

(13,208 posts)I just hope they avoid "Silverchair Syndrome" because I was convinced that Silverchair was the absolute FUTURE of hard rock after Frogstomp was released.
They faded away instead. Remember?
So good luck to GVF. I'm pulling for them.

(2,343 posts)heard of this band until watching snl. Its not my kind of music, but i couldn't stop singing out loud, "the black smoke rises!" in that high pitch of his. My wife was not amused.

(10,418 posts)The similarity is so great they get play on classic rock stations. They've already released an EP and an LP and have had several hits. I think they are all around 20 years old.
