(287 posts)That is so amazing! They really have good voices, but a great sense of humor too. Those school kids/families are lucky to have these two.
Thanks for posting that. It was refreshing.

(34,542 posts)We always had lake effect snow, but we had a huge blizzard in 1967. I was 12 years old, a sixth-grader in the one-room school (K-6) right across the road from my house. We had a small creek with banks about 10 feet deep between our yard and the road. My dad built a small foot bridge over it so we could easily get our mail and so I could get to school more safely. The drifts were so tall that you couldn't tell there was a creek or even a road, for that matter. Some of the drifts on our road were over 35' high (our area was hilly). I remember that heavy duty snow removal equipment had to be brought in from Canada to clear the roads. We were out of school for 2.5 weeks. That was even too much for me, lol. I remember cabin fever setting in about 1.5 weeks into the shutdown. My dad was a police officer in Charlevoix, about 6 miles away. They had to get him with an Arctic Cat--one of those things with an enclosed cab and treads like a tank--for the first few days until the main roads were open enough for him to drive. He never missed a shift. They let me ride in it for a few minutes. It was pretty cool. My mom worked in an office in Charlevoix, and she was out for a week.
My birthday is on June 20, and there was still snow on the north side of the ravine by our yard. It was the only time I ever had a snowball fight on my birthday.
