I didn't realize at the time that it was that stylistic diversity that was Prince's greatest legacy.

(41,761 posts)(I mixed up Hindu Love Gods with Full Time Men in my deleted post (above) - oops)
I was told in the PM of the gig that something special was going to happen at the 40 Watt Club (in Athens GA) that night.
The only band on the roster that was Wheel of Cheese (a Love Tractor side project - Love Tractor = another Athens GA band)
After Wheel of Cheese finished their gig, I went to the rest room.
On my way out, opened the door just as some dude was entering (at the same time) and he smacked right into me.
He had this terrified look on his face - but he looked very familiar - but he wasn't a townie.
I kept thinking - who was he?
Five minutes later, I found out.
REM came on stage minus Michael Stipe - but with the dude who ran into me in the rest room - Warren Zevon.
The whole thing was supposed to be Top Secret - which was the reason I supposed why WZ was so terrified - I blew his cover.
They played a great set and did a quite powerful rendition of Van Morrison's "Gloria".
That is all
