Man Completely Loses It When He Finds Out He Can Keep His Foster Dog

"I have never seen him react this way to anything before" ❤️️🐕❤️️

BY CAITLIN JILL ANDERS

Toby was found after he wandered into an auto repair shop in South Korea one day all alone, likely after being abandoned by his previous owner. He was taken to a shelter, but since it was the dead of winter and the shelter lacked sufficient indoor kennel space, Toby had to spend most of his time in an outdoor kennel, braving the harsh winter cold with little protection.

Eventually, Toby was rescued from the shelter by Band For Animal, a rescue that works to save dogs from the Korean dog meat trade and other dire situations. He was taken to the rescue’s safe house in South Korea before being flown to the U.S., where he was quickly placed with a foster family — who had no idea just how much they were going to love him.

Once he felt comfortable, Toby’s true personality really began to shine through, and his entire foster family became so smitten with him. He and his dog sister Charlie began bickering and cuddling like they’d known each other forever, and even after just a week, it was so clear just how well Toby fit in with the family dynamic. The plan had always been to just foster Toby for a little while, but Hoang soon realized that wasn’t going to possible, especially for her husband.

“We had two families who wanted to schedule a meeting with Toby, and when that happened, I just realized how crushed my husband would be without him,” Hoang said. “It had only been one week but my husband and Toby were inseparable. My husband is such a giving person, always putting others before himself. He's never really asked for anything or wanted anything badly. Toby was the first experience where I could see he would be heartbroken without him.”

Hoang decided that she was going to officially adopt Toby as a surprise for her husband. She contacted the rescue to let them know, and they were so thrilled and eager to help her with the adorable plan. Since the rescue needed to send someone out to do a home check to make the adoption official, Hoang decided to tell her husband that it was a potential adopter coming to meet Toby.

Hoang gave the person from the rescue a card to give to her husband during the visit …

… and as soon as he started reading it and realized what was going on, he completely lost it.

Before long, everyone was crying, even the person from the rescue. As his dad continued to cry, Toby sat by him and tried to comfort him, not realizing that he was crying because he loved Toby so much.

I'm afraid I'd be a big fat foster fail, too. A word of advice, don't click on the video accompanying the article unless you have a good supply of tissues handy! You've been warned...

So I called her people and told them I found her. Originally, they said they would come pick her up. A few days passed, and they finally just told me to keep her.

Turns out they lived in the same apartment complex as I did. They had thrown her out three months before they even moved! Assholes. So I took her to the vet. She was flea-bitten but otherwise fine. We got her shots up to date.

Two years later, Puss is still with me and probably the sweetest cat I've ever known.

And a lucky one! I found my beautiful Felix as a feisty little kitten in a supermarket parking lot five years ago this June. He doesn't mind water

She always wants to drink from the sink and watch any water. When I come home from work, she first greets me and then goes into the bathroom and gets into the tub. So strange...

Felix likes to drink when I'm pouring water into the dog's dish too. I'm thinking I need to get him a pet fountain, but I'm also afraid he'll decide to get in it!

We have the same problem.

4 of our senior cats have passed in the last 5-6 years, but somehow we still have the same number of cats as we did when we moved into this house 5 years ago.

Just realized that a couple nights ago-- I thought we had finally downsized some, lol!

Additionally, we have to run away from adoption day events at our local PetSmart.

12 years we had just gotten a new puppy and were taking it to puppy class at PetSmart. The staff knew us as Crazy Dog People, since our adult dog got really upset if we didn't take him along. He would happily go to the puppy class and snooze under our chair. One day we went in and a couple of the staff came up to us, all excited, and told us that 'they had one of our kind of dogs' at the adoption event. Turns out a puppy mill had been raided and the shelter had way too many dogs, so were working on getting them adopted out. We are Cavalier King Charles fans, so we wandered back to look at 'one of our dogs'. Turns out he wasn't a Cavalier King Charles, he was a King Charles Spaniel, aka English Toy Spaniel. Remember we had just gotten a new puppy. We were not looking for another dog!

Bosley, from the Pet Smart event is still with us 12 years later.

Toby looked SO much like a Cairn, but there are several breeds that look alike. T Most of the Scottish terrier breeds, and some of the N England breeds, but Toby's legs are MUCH longer than a Cairn's.

We have a Cairn. Fantastic breed, if you can put up with the energy and sometime barkiness of a Cairn. Sweet disposition, smart, playful, GREAT ratter, and long-lived.

Fewer goodbyes.
