I was in a neighborhood that was zoned for livestock (In the middle of the San Fernando Valley. Near Roscoe and the 405).

The neighbors on both sides of us kept chickens, but didn't keep them well-contained in their yards, as my wife grew roses and fruit trees.

On one occasion, our black Lab started walking into the house carefully carrying something in her mouth. When I asked her what she had, she proceeded to show me.
By dropping the egg.
On our concrete patio.
Where it broke.

Since she had done what I'd asked, I looked at the mess and (through gritted teeth) said "Good girl."

our dog snagged his first peanut butter sandwich from the counter when my son stepped away to pour himself some milk. Son was not amused but was persuaded that he would soon find the humor in it.
