a young man stood up and loudly informed us all that he didn't want to live near neighbors. Why not, you may ask? Because he wants to be able to go out and take a leak off his deck any time he wants to.
Just in case you don't think the younger generation has goals these days.

(25,917 posts)Or just how big the back yard is.
Okay, this is going to be Too Much Information, but I'll post it anyway. New Year's Eve I was at a friend's house. He had me and another friend, I'll call Walter (because that's his name). My friend, Robert (his real name) is gay. Walter is bi. I'm hetero. Those aspects may or may not be pertinent. But more than once during the evening, when Walter needed to relieve himself he went into the back yard rather than into the bathroom. I honestly don't get it. There was a perfectly good flushing toilet available and he preferred to whiz in the bushes. Or wherever he aimed. That is definitely more than I want to know.
Anyway, regardless of my tender sensibilities, the backyard in question had more than adequate room to accommodate Walter's needs. Heck, my own back yard, which is probably less than a quarter of Robert's would have been fine. Although I don't think it would hold up very well if Walter lived in my place and did all of his business in the back yard.
I will add that I am highly appreciative of indoor plumbing and a good sewage system.
