The Deep Sea: This is absolutely fascinating!

If you haven't scrolled through this graphic, it's worth a few minutes to do so.

Among other things, it shows the depth reached by Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh in 1960: the floor of the Mariana Trench.

For info on Jacques Piccard, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques_Piccard

Jacques Piccard was the father of Bertrand Piccard, who with Brian Jones, was the first to complete a non-stop balloon flight around the globe in 1999. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertrand_Piccard

What a fascinating family as well! Enjoy!

So fascinating. I love how it gives a perspective of how deep things can go. It also makes me think that some people have odd ideas when naming new animals...sea pig, flabby whalefish, terrible claw lobster... good lord.
