Plus wind.
That means shoveling snow drifts from my front door in the morning.
Yuck.

(23,364 posts)Big wind and a few inches of snow. The drifts are a lot of work to move....especially on a week day when youve got to clear it before heading out to work. Sorry, friend. I feel you. The end of January is when it starts to get old...and weve got months to go yet, dont we? Ugh.

(206,371 posts)It said 3 degrees when I got home tonight, I'm afraid to look now. And the wind makes it even worse! We had some snow yesterday, but it was mainly blowing all over, this weekend we may be snowed in. A friend of mine reminded me of an upcoming protest, but I've been sick since November so between the snow, the temperature and the wind, I'm planning on staying in. I'm not a fan of winter!

Plus it's so funny to see the reaction of cats to this suddenly white cold world. Mine will run from the back window to the front window, because surely the "Front World" will be back to normal.
In 2 days, the snow will be dirty and spotty... but for a moment, it's a lovely sight.

(25,918 posts)but I got 6 to 8 inches of snow yesterday in Santa Fe. Hooray! Okay, so the city shut down by 4pm on Thursday and more or less remained shut down Friday, but that was overkill. By 2pm on Friday the sun was out and the snow was melting happily.
Small amount of advice, from bitter lesson learned in Golden, CO in 1987: When it starts snowing, shovel your sidewalk and driveway with about every three inches of snow. Get ahead of it. Shortly after we moved to Golden in November, 1987, we got three feet, yes three feet of snow, and stupidly waited until it stopped snowing to begin shoveling. Never again.
Most of the time here our snow is so light and dry that I can sweep it off my driveway and sidewalk. Yesterday I actually used my shovel.

(3,659 posts)Had it a lot when I was a kid, I seem to recall. Now January means highs in the low 40s and rain.
Enjoy it while it lasts
