The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI've never given Eminem a second thought. I am more into
Jazz and Progressive Rock than his style of music.
I changed my mind yesterday with ONE song. His new album/collection dropped this week and Darkness is one of the songs on it. It is very controversial, which is wonderful because it draws more attention.
Please watch even if you don't like.

(14,594 posts)That was dark. I'm glad I watched to the end. Wonder how many people will register and vote because of this video? Hopefully a lot.
Because as he says, this will end when enough people care.

(10,064 posts)I'm not a fan of his music, it's just not what I enjoy listening to. But this song and video make such an indelible impression that they supersede musical preferences.
I was reminded of this video he released before the 2004 election:

(5,131 posts)Eminem talks openly in his music about his life, his relapses, recovery, his mental health, his failures as a father, as a friend. I've always appreciated that in his music. He's never one to shy away from controversy for sure. So I'm not surprised he did this.

(7,813 posts)For some reason, the 11:00 local news was on TV that night. It's rare that our TV is on and we never let it just go in the background. But it was on that night.
I was just about to go to bed when the reports of the mass shooting started coming in. It was bad enough, but they reported all sorts of unconfirmed nonsense along with it: people were hiding behind the bar in the Tropicana, there was a gunman seen coming down the elevator at New York New York, people were running from a shooter at the MGM Grand (all are withing walking distance of the horror). It felt like a major terror attack or invasion.
I live miles away from Mandalay Bay, but it was terrifying. I was crying as typed that.
Thanks for posting it.

(7,813 posts)From you, anyway. Of course not.
It's the terrorists who gathered in Richmond yesterday. It's the fiends who follow Alex Jones and harass families of murdered children. It's the "you can have my gun when you take it from my cold dead fingers" mob. THEY are the ones who should apologize, but we'll never see or hear anything but BS from them.
