(4,316 posts)Some people never send cards. Some always do. I send out homemade cards with a greeting handwritten. I don't expect handmade cards, but I think there should at least be a personal touch of person's handwriting.

(11,387 posts)on the OTHER hand .. you might take the view that these individuals DID take note and remembered you (and invested a small amount of themselves, time and money). It almost certainly wasn't intended as a slap at you .. and they probably perceive this as a kind and thoughtful gesture. And, by comparison, there are virtually legions of folks that do nothing. So ...
(All of which you probably already realize .. but let's try not to judge too harshly. My lack of appreciation somewhat mirrors your own, but ... Changing times?)

(4,316 posts)I usually don't ever post in the lounge or anywhere or even mention it to anyone. But for some reason, today I did.
It somehow feels like the business model of relating to people has taken over too much.

I don't even mind the custom printed ones with pictures and family updates but I think they should at least be signed (and a personal message is an added bonus).
When I get one that's pre-printed, with return address printed, no signature, and a computer address label, I think they are just sending out of obligation. Would not hurt my feelings if they took me off their to-do list.

I always hand write a note on the card.
I think I won't bother doing them again. End of an era.
