Just went for a little stroll in my neighborhood.
I had to pick up a dinner order and stopped at Starbucks to get an Iced Tea. It was the first time that I have really been out on the main street in my neighborhood since mid-march.
It was nice to see that everybody - even children - were wearing masks. There was one woman who wasn't wearing one (probably a republican), but she was on the other side of the street, and an infant in a stroller, but his family was all masked. All the shop people were masked and the floors were taped with social distancing instructions.
I felt very grateful that I live in an area where people take this seriously and nobody hassles anybody about mask-wearing. Of course we are one of the states/cities that had a massive breakout and have now flattened the curve and it is pretty clear why that has happened. It's because people around here are smart enough and care enough about their fellow citizens to do the right thing to prevent the spread of the virus. We get it. We are also a very blue city in a very blue state, which helps I suppose.
It just really upsets me when I hear about people in other parts of the country getting harassed or threatened simply because they are wearing a mask or asking someone to wear a mask to protect the health and safety of everyone. Is that really too much to ask?
