CONFESS!!! Who watched Geraldo Rivera's show where he opened Al Capone's vault?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mystery_of_Al_Capone's_Vaults

Rivera made this syndicated 2 hour show where they swore something really big was hidden in Al Capone's vault and after 2 hours it turns out it was filled with garbage.

I remember staying up late to watch it. I had to go home to my parents house since I didn't have access to a TV at college.

I'll never forget him trying to summarize his "successes" at the end: "Well, we found a couple of bottles..."

That was the first time I recognized he was a bit of a douchebag

It was a genuine risk he took - I was convinced that we'd find a shitload of stuff, because hey - what journalist is going to open that vault and make a two-hour special out of it unless there's something there? I thought it took balls to try it.

Yes, he's shown douchebaggery since, but at the time I really respected the risk he took.

I also thought he held up pretty well after the disappointment.

Now I take with a grain of salt anything that promises a big reveal.

Lesson learned.

But I didn't watch the show where LeBron James announced his decision regarding a move from Cleveland.

And I heap mountains of praise on the Supreme Court for not making today's announcement from Hollywood. Almost low-key, nice.

I still remember the look on Dads face when Rivera tried to make out that they actually found some things. It was rare for him to laugh out loud but he had a hard time stopping.

It turned out to be a lot of fun for us and we still talk about it.

If today's any indication, he was a pioneer in using TV to humiliate hell out of someone. But he did put on the brave little soldier face, didn't he?
