The DU Lounge

Will be dedicated to the memory of a dear soul, who I met on DU in 2004. Her ID was KitchenWitch, and she lost her valiant fight against cancer two days ago. She left DU some time ago, I found her on facebook, and in the years that followed she became a sister to me. We shared highs and lows, sports, and movies, and so many other things. I adored her wit, her kindness, and her ability to make a smile happen on the darkest of days. She doted on my great nephew and niece, and effortlessly made the world around us a better place, just by her presence in it, and the love that flowed from her. Rest in light and love, Dear Lady. You made so many people feel better about who they are, and I will be forever honored to be one of them.

(7,354 posts)I remember KitchenWitch, back in the 'oughts. The Lounge back then was a pretty happening place, lots of fun and interaction. One of the nicest people here
I went on a five year hiatus from DU and when I came back it had changed tremendously, lots of people were gone. I wonder what had happened.
RIP, KitchenWitch.

(21,236 posts)She brought a great group of some DU'ers and other fellow democrats while I was in SoCal in 2004. She and her husband picked me up, and we all met for dinner...about 25 or so people. It was the first time I had ever been in such a large group where I could be comfortable as Dem and speak and share like that.
She was a lovely person, cared much for others, spoke her mind, share her wit and humor, and so much more.
My heart is broken, and she will be missed for a very long time, by me, and many. many others.
Thank you, SCE, for dedicating the next LOLCats to her. She was very loved.

(22,559 posts)A relentless fighter for what is good and right, a delightful, twisted sense of humour and a fierce baseball fan. She was such a force of nature that I honestly thought, even battling two forms of cancer and Diabetes that she would prevail and be back to snarking on Facebook in no time at all. For much of the DU community on Facebook her loss has been a body-blow. We are devastated.
Fair winds and following seas, my friend.

(1,367 posts)B.G., I just read your lovely words about KW. I wish I had met her. Kathy and I were all set to go and visit her in the hospital, but Kathy fell ill, and we couldn't go. The next day, we learned that KW had succumbed to her illness.
I know she was a beautiful soul. It's evident from your words, but, like you, I'd known it for years. ❤️

(16,161 posts)I remember her from years past on DU, but only in recent years did I have the pleasure of meeting her in person, when I was able to take her taxi!
KW was a delightful person and we are poorer for her loss.
