I'm home from the hospital!

Still have a nasty cough, but my lungs are clear. Immediate future is to build up some endurance so I can walk more - they blame the pneumonia on my inability to walk and distance.

Right now I am on various blood thinners, heart and kidney medications and such. No idea if I will have to take there the rest of my life or just until they get the aortic valve cleared.

I'm sorry I didn't respond to many messages in the other thread. Ti took everything I had to just write the message. Same thing here - I am completely out of energy tonight.

I start home physical therapy tomorrow and a home health carer to make sure I stick with my routine.

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes!

An easy way to help gain endurance is to put a set of pedals on a counter or bar and use it with your hands.

I have a clot on my aortic valve. Unlike when they originally replaced the valve, they cannot do a TAVR (non-invasive replacement) because that might break up the clot and cause a stroke or embolism.

They are trying to dissolve the clot with medications but if that doesn't work I'm looking at open heart surgery in a few months.

I still need to move around to keep fluid from accumulating in my lungs again but have to be very closely monitored. It's hard to move much when my heart is working at 40%!

How frustrating it must be to not go at full speed. I hope the meds work so you don’t have to have surgery.

Effectively, it was congestive heart failure (caused by a blood clot on my aortic valve) so I still have a long road ahead before I am done with this.
