A smart phone app I would gladly pay real money for.

As my cohort ages, I make frequent trips to several medical centers.

I would like to have an app that would retrace my steps.

All the halls, nurses stations and rooms confuse me.

If an app could guide me from the patients room to the exit near where I entered it would be valuable.

So, not sure if the resolution would be fine enough to distinguish adjacent doorways, for example. But you can check them out.

2. I, too spend a lot of time in various medical facilities.

I became familiar with them over time, but it was difficult. Now we have moved, and there are a whole new set of facilities to become familiar with. The people who design hospitals seem to be the same people who design mazes for rats in science experiments. Seriously, hospitals can get confusing because they have been added onto and change and remodeled over the years. So what you see today is not the master plan of a single architect.

An app for airports would be good also. No two are the same and like hospitals, they get added onto and changed over the years.

exam room 91 and it took me at least 10 minutes to get back to lobby. Lotsa signs but all the hallways And room look exactly alike. The app you suggested would be very helpful.

5. I recently got locked in a wing of a hospital that shuts down after visiting hours.

I would describe it as an a--mazing experience.

I wandered for what seemed like many minutes until I ran into another human being. Many minutes was like six, but it felt longer!

6. You could use the "notes" function on your phone and just dictate the route into the notes. When you return just look

at the notes for "Friend X" at "xyz" hospital and follow your notes to get to the room?

Like lets say as an example you want to go to Friend X at xyz hospital
Drive to xyz hospital.
Walk in the front of the hospital.
Go straight to elevators. Take elevator to, lets say Third floor.
Make right out of the elevator and go two corridors down
his room is on the left # 102.
Make a note for each friend..
Just make sure you look up every once in a while and not trip over the housekeeping cart...
A thought..
I have worked in many hospitals in 40 years as a Tech and yes they kinda sorta look the same if your not familiar with the layout..

I'm too concerned about whom I am visiting to do all that.

Today, to visit a patient in the hospital was quite the hike.

UMC (U of AZ) is a top tier hospital.
Along with the U of AZ school of medicine, the campus is huge.

I parked as close as possible and still walked nearly three quarters of a mile to get to her room.
The care and equipment are top notch, and I am grateful for that.

10. They could set it up like the NFL's field tracking system

Current-generation NFL shoulder pads have two RFID chips in them, one on each shoulder.

The ball also has one in it.

There are a number of sensors all around the field, and they record the movements of the ball and the players in real time. This data is then provided to the teams - I believe they only give you the data for your team's motions, not the other team's - this keeps them from being able to recreate the other team's secret play book. This tracks players down to the inch, so the chain crew is there largely in case the system goes down which it doesn't.

So...what they'd have to do in a hospital, airport or whatever is have some sort of RF system in the walls that talks to your phone and plots out your location on the map of the facility. So, if you plugged in "take me to the nearest restroom," it backplots where you are against the location of the latrine and gives you the most direct route.

It'd be pretty cool but what hospital would be willing to install it?

If I enter my location and destination, Google shows several possible routes.

I would like an app that would track my movements and allow me to follow my route in reverse.

"Turn left in seven steps."

Not dependent on the institution installing anything, just using GPS.
