66 years ago today my parents were married

I miss them everyday. I lost my Dad in 1991 and my Mom in 2008. They had my wonderful sister in 1958 then 4 years later me. They always were willing to help others in need. My Dad was a volunteer fireman and my Mom was an RN. My Mom passed along her love of reading to me, and my Dad his love for dogs, especially German Shepherds. They never totally understood my love of cats but they tolerated it none the less, and even grew to love a few themselves, though it was like pulling teeth to get them to confess to it.

Just wish my Dad was here to tell me it's all going to be okay. My Mom was a worry wort just like me, but still would would give me a hug.

Hope they are still together and celebrating their day in the great beyond.

1.5 years ago. My mom 9 years ago. I miss them often but have their wedding photo on my phone. It was a beautiful day on my mom's farm. They came from two different worlds but had a great family. 'Benign neglect' was how we were raised which is how you are supposed to raise your kids.

on your phone. My parents were married by a Justice of the Peace. The local Priests refused to marry them because my Dad, who had been divorced long before he ever met my Mom, refused to pay the priest money to travel to Rome to seek an annulment of my Dad's first marriage. Both my parents were excommunicated but my Mom still attended mass and insisted my sister and I were raised Catholic. My Dad only went back for family things like baptisms, marriages and funerals which is basically the same for me now.

As result we don't have photos of their wedding, but a few of their honeymoon in Florida.
