You never know what tiny imperfection in the grass or at the lip might deflect your ball just that hair's width away from the hole.
Imagine that the hole is a 395-yard par four. The player has made the green in two and he's putting for birdie. Then this happens!
Notice that after he missed the first stroke, he didn't follow his routine and line up his shots. His feet aren't aligned and he just recklessly whacks at the ball. Rarely does that work.
I have feeling he learned a lesson.

If I were the PGA, I'd fine him for unsportsmanlike conduct. He wasn't even faking trying to make it.
