Ocelot II
(115,910 posts)If the first, a cross between a Norwegian Lundehund (an interesting breed with double-jointed paws that enable it to climb cliffs to hunt puffin eggs) and a Scottish terrier (which is much cuter than I am); if the second, I'd have to be a basset hound, which is among the laziest breeds.

(110 posts)I have owned American Eskimos since 1989, mostly rescues. They are very loyal and protective! A bit high strung and suffer from separation anxiety, but that just makes you want to cuddle with them even more! And they are so beautiful!

(8,844 posts)Definitely Black. I currently am on number 7 since my Navy stint. Have had multiple blacks, a chocolate and kept a blonde from a litter I bred her for. Blacks seem a little smarter. Of course thats a small polling size. The newer silver ones are frowned on by purest.
But being a Biden Shepherd seems fun too, weeding our corrupt agents.
And in response to post above, I could stick the black hair I vacuum up each week to me and be one.

But not to diminish her cuddliness too...

(50 posts)Work dogs all the way! McNabs never stop working. Unbelievably intelligent as long as you do what they want you to do. Quiet workers whether heading or trailing. Always looking to account for that last stray lamb (or calf or, in my case, small grandchild) to the faux Alpha. The Malamute is an incredible animal when it comes to pulling a freight sled. Won all the contests our local animal feed store used to put on.
Owned two Goldens over the years. Loved them to pieces. Great family dogs, but so needy for reassurance petting.
Once, way back in the 1960's, coming from classes, someone let his/her dog out on the front porch of a shabby student rental during the middle of a rare Midwest nor-easter snow storm in Madison. Came eyeball to eyeball with this massive Alaskan. (I was dog phobic back then having been bitten by a chained German Shepherd as a small child.) The untethered Alaskan could not have cared less about me. Put its nose straight into the fierce snowy wind turning its head slowly from one direction to another to get a whiff of "what's going on out here." Lot's of animal character there. No yapping or meaningless barking about territory.

(8,084 posts)I'm such a Beagle person (because of my wonderful childhood critter - Happy), I'd say probably a Beagle.
I'd also say a Schnauzer because one of my best friends has one and I just love, love, love him!

(17,219 posts)... you'd know the answer has to be Irish Setter.
In fact, when I was very young (about 3), there was an Irish Setter living across the street from us who was also named Eric (which is my mundane name). I used to hang out in the doghouse with him and share bread, my mother used to tell me.

(7,691 posts)I could totally be a GS mix with a Husky or Rottie as well.
My neighbor is a German Shepard and Rottie mix. He's super handsome and he likes to hang out with me. His human parents are always yelling at him and don't exercise or work with him at all. It makes me sad for him.

(6,128 posts)Don't let that sad look fool you! This is Sashie and she is the happiest dog I have ever met. She loves everyone, other dogs, cats, people, just everyone! She adopts the little pups and kisses the cats, holding them down with her paw and just gives them all love baths. We call her the Ambassador because she is so loving and friendly. She also breaks up fights between all the other dogs. I think she's some sort of collie or shepherd mix. But, she is very special.

(25,606 posts)one he got over the summer is so cute , Rosko the dog has fur on his ears like a spanial.
Right now I have four of them, two others died.
They are silly & opinionated - my sister calls them cartoon dogs. And they love to eat.
They never get full. We have one that will fuss at you and one that throws a tantrum better than any toddler. They bring laughter and joy everyday.

(185 posts)had brown eyes, white eyebrows set off by the brown head and classic curly tail. A beautiful dog.
The summer of 1975 we left our golden lab with the Boys at Ghost Creek.. They lived up river a few miles and cared for her while we were away for the summer. She went into heat and rest is history. She birthed half a dozen puppies that were all named after Canadian Whiskeys, Canadian Club, Black Velvet, Crown Royal, and a few others I don't remember.
We kept VO and he became a beautiful dog that loved to jump fences. A few of the pups were taken by a musher from further up the Yukon and the Boys kept a few for their own team.
