(21,688 posts)I've worked fairly closely with Judi here on DU, mainly on the Latin America forum, for 9 years now - between this account and a prior one (lost during the "he died for your sins" hack in late 2016).
Judi has consistently been a source of great info, uncanny insights, wise counsel, humor - and in trying times, friendship.
We are blessed to have her here.
If you're reading this - All the Best, Judi. Thank you for being you.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful song, and reminding me and anyone who loves them to listen to their stuff all over again. It could never, ever get old!

(160,649 posts)I have read DU religiously since I came here, right after Elián González finally got to go home to his family in Cuba and the Miami circus was over, and people stopped fighting about him online and elsewhere, so long ago!
Reading at DU when it started was like entering another world altogether. The "vibes" here are entirely different, the participants are wildly more together, more focused, more informed, more involved, and so much more intelligent I was flabbergasted. That experience has never, never fallen short of my first impressions.
Reading here, posting articles I am lucky to see springing out of the InterWebS, (the series of tubes, as Alaska's Republican Senator Ted Stevens explained to us so skillfully, material every single day, it seems, as if by magic. I have learned so damned much in such a "short" time, have found so many images, have learned from other posters I am "become" a totally different person, the world has gained so much value, become far more mysterious, more beautiful than I ever could have imagined.
What I have seen from thinking about what people bring here, learning about their own meaningfulness, thoughts, values has absolutely deepened me internally, I am more impressed than ever! Life seems more intense now, has gained so much more value, is far too important to be lost to ignorance, greed, and hatred.
It's always a place to enjoy, to respect, to appreciate. It's wonderful there actually is a place like this, with people like the progressive minds and spirits who become personalities others remember, sharing a special world.
Thanks for your unbelievable kindness. You are cherished and please don't forget it. I am by God unworthy, and shocked! Thank you.
