(5,134 posts)And say that the reason they have to move up and down is that to create the warp bubble that the ship needs, the nacelles need to be in that upright position for maximum coverage, but when she is in normal flight, the fact that she can and does enter atmospheres is why they have to be down.
(How's that for a 'Roddenberry'?? )

I loved the series also.
The ground attack ships from "War of the Worlds" (1953 George Pal Production) were awesome when I saw them in 1953.
I had been used to Flash Gordon's space ship which I recognize now as a butt plug with a 4th of July sparkler for an engine. They tried.
