In my recollection, Easter baskets' contents usually ended up being pretty disappointing! Even the chocolate eggs were often filled with what I considered yucky marshmallow.

I've bought single flavors before of the coffee flavored, buttered popcorn, champagne, and beer in the past for stocking stuffers at Christmas. The beer flavored was unusual, but pretty good.

I would take out any licorice jelly beans or those eggs that had the texture of circus peanuts and give them to Mom.

My favorite candy was my large hollow white chocolate bunny, my second fav Russell Stover's Jelly Bird coconut egg nests!

And we also always got a book and something extra that was hidden someplace in the house. The clues were in the eggs. One year I got the Barbie Fashion Designer kit, another year a Jon Gnagy drawing set.

I dug into the the Reese's peanut butter eggs, Cadbury creme eggs and the Hershey's robin eggs.

I don't remember ever receiving any peeps.

Any jelly beans went untouched and always went into the trash after a few weeks. I still won't eat jelly beans as an adult.

It is Easter, after all. It only seems appropriate to start things off with god’s flesh.

After that it’s the chocolate bunny, baby!
