Gold fever!

Last week, I got hooked on watching a series of YouTube videos about gold panning. I've been intending to give that a try since 1991 when we moved to Colorado, but just never got around to it. So, I ordered a panning kit, which arrived today, and now I can't wait for the weather to get warm! Anyone here done any of that, and if so, where?

They guarantee you'll get SOMETHING. From time to time we'll hear of someone getting a good sized nugget.
People tell me if you do it by yourself to look for areas behind boulders or other things that alter water flow

South fork of the Cosumnes River, Ca, and some other stream a short drive from the cabin. I still have two vials of my share. A few years ago I noticed the two gold samples are distinctly different in color.

I was just a kid, but I observed panning will keep you in beans and bacon, but you won't get rich unless you get lucky.

Good luck!

There's a good program called America's Backyard Gold, where it features people in places all over America who are prospecting for gold. A seasoned pro goes to these areas to see how they are doing and often gives tips for being mroe successful.

Washington that are productive but you need to watch out for active claims and should be aware of the laws regarding your take.

Sometimes you’ll get some, though.

Better yet, in the same areas are lovely fossil beds. Far superior to a few flakes of gold IMHO.
