What's stressful is the hassle of getting to the airport, baggage check lines and waiting to board and get seated. Whew. When the seat belt clips, you can finally relax.
Bon Voyage.

Trump issued an executive order that made many scheduled maintenance/inspections voluntary, and now airline mishaps are more common.

No, sorry. I misread. 13777 merely gives mfr’s a much broader role in discussing and deciding how to address safety concerns prior to product certification, with the goal of reducing certification times. 13771 addresses all regulations, stating that for all new regulations, two must be abandoned.

Are you getting out to see the eclipse this afternoon?

And good morning.

That means there are about 40,000 flights per week. The ones that make the news are incidents, mostly, not accidents. You will be just fine. I have been flying for nearly 60 years, and in that time one single incident in which an engine was shut down during flight and we proceeded to land safely at an alternate airport. And that includes years when I rode on more than 200 airplanes in a single year.

You'll be fine. That plane is not about to have a problem just to please you.

but, really .. you already know all the rational reasons why your worry is almost entirely unfounded.
You're actually much more likely to encounter mishap - en route to the airport.
Try to see the flight itself as a (relatively mundane) amusement park ride. And then too - an interesting view to take in!
And if all else fails - there's always watching the squirrels (fellow passengers) for entertainment!

And there are thousands and thousands every day that don't have any issues at all. Plus, a flight that short probably won't be a Boeing plane. Embraer? CRJ?

I hate flying, but I promise you'll be fine. Enjoy the trip, when you get there!

Air travel is a big fear for me too. So far my record is 100% safety! 😂 I a wish a perfect record for you on this trip as well! On the boat in a thunderstorm when I feel anxious I plan out in my head in detail what I will do when we get to dock, breath easy into my belly and make sure my jaw and hands are relaxed. Safe travels and smooth skies to you!😁💗💗🙏🏼👍

Watch the movie. Bring something engaging to read. Breathing exercises.

I made it through my longest flight - 8+ hours back in '16. About Twice as long as any previous flight! I didn't bounce off the walls! 👍

Good Luck!

you’re far more likely to die on the way to the airport than during a flight. Air travel is extremely safe, despite the recent incidents. And (not that it’s going to happen) a large majority of people in crashes survive without a scratch.
