The most striking thing about the eclipse today in North central KY was....

a deep azure blue sky to the north of us, much like that I've seen in photos taken from high altitude balloons near the edge of outer space. It was striking and and that sky-scape included gorgeous brilliant white cumulonimbus clouds against an azure canvas.

We were on the edge of this event, at around the 95% zone and most of it was obscured by clouds, although I got a few brief near-perfect glimpses of the eclipse through dark gray bottoms of those spring clouds.

I didn't bother to buy special viewing glasses, intending only to sit outside and hear Mother Nature give us a brief moment of solitude and listen to our birds respond.

I don't think it got dark enough to disturb any wildlife, but that beautiful sky surrounding our eclipse zone was well worth the wait and attention.
