Checkers, Chinese Checkers, Mouse Trap🧡, High Gear🧡: literally a set of different size gears with little holes for pegs, you rolled dice, and advanced your colored pegs forward. You could only move to the next gear if your peg was right across from the corresponding open hole, and Chutes & Ladders🧡: ladders would move your marker up, and chutes, well, back down you went!
By my late teens I played Scrabble w my mom. 🧡 I play it digitally now.👍

(5,334 posts)I can't discount the togetherness that the game brings to a household, but, alas, the game itself is pretty bad.
How many times were you eliminated rather early while it took FOREVER for the remaining players to get the game over with? Which wouldn't be too bad in and of itself except that its gameplay is cumbersome, repetitive, stagnant, and predictable. It's rated a lowly 4.36 on boardgamegeek.com.
I think that the memory of Monopoly has actually tainted the willingness of many grown people to consider boardgames as a pastime. There are so many incredible choices these days!

(25,253 posts)about property--left the game. I guess if we followed the rules it would have been better. But we were kids.I will go to the link and check out the games listed. TY.

(17,215 posts)(apparently, the first word in that game is "forbidden," who knew?)
In my misspent teens/early twenties, I played a lot of chess.
I remember the richest, most spoiled kid on our street got "Mousetrap," which I wanted badly, but it was too expensive. Boy, was I jealous.
