a snippet of every song to hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 since 1958

Great to see the evolution of musical sounds over the years. The arrival of Elvis predates this list. Another massive change occurs in 1964 (guess why). Main difference between early years and much later is that a wide variety of artists and styles has been pretty much changed into sound alikes.
AM top 40 radio in mono (FM was not a thing until the end of the 60s) was awash with variety, hard rock followed by corn pone country by broadway hits and elevator music like lawrence welk. and soul groups, pop divas, all on one station.

I'm over half way through it. I started not listening to as much 'new' music around 1995. sinkingfeeling Apr 13 #2

Do It To Me One More Time

Reminds me of a hysterical car ride with my Aunt. My Mom was driving, my Aunt was in the passenger seat, and my sister and I were in the back.

This song came on the radio. All of a sudden my aunt starts saying, "fuck fuck that's all anyone talks or sings about anymore, fucking." My Mom, my sister, and I started laughing, and couldn't stop for quite a bit. My Aunt joined in.

Ah such a good memory from my 17th year. Thank you for posting this.
