Eff me!!

Your resident #1 procrastinator has committed an epic faux pas.

It's April 14. Today I will be doing our taxes.

IF I CAN FIND OUR G-D 1099s!!

I swear that I put them in a place I would not forget. I know just where they are, I told my wife, as I set up my desk for the task.

Well, I didn't forget. Only problem is - you guessed it:

They're not there!!

Mother effing . . . I-don't-know-what.

What say you, DUers? Where are our 1099s?! Hellllp!

File an extension either via usps or online. Super simple to do. But be sure to check your state Department of Revenue, as well. Some states require that a separate state extension form be filed, and some piggyback on the federal - automatic with the filing of the federal.

Take a deep breath! You’ve got plenty of time!

Lacking that...auto extension.

Of course, if you are like me if you file the auto extension, about three hours later you will find them and yell at yourself.

For $90 H&R Block will import them and do pretty much everything for you. I didn’t realize until almost the end that you have to leave out the blanks in the document ID number. Argh!
Not pushing them, just sharing my experience.

Investment companies, banks, employers, etc. almost always offer digital 1099s and other tax documents.

I need to learn to chill in times of stress. I don't run to the pantry for Ativan every time there's a problem, and I didn't today, but damn if I didn't think about it.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I haven't looked there yet. I'll do it next time I get up.

I need to check the litter box, too. Ew. But one of my cats is a real brat.

You just reminded me that I have to pay a tiny state bill. Can’t believe it either. Stupid state income taxation!
