The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsA night without MSNBC. Listening to the usual suspects. Dead, Hot Tuna, David Bromberg, etc.
Kind of enjoying the change of pace.

(24,581 posts)Without knowing what she said, I totally agree with her point. I don't say that about a lot of commenters on our US social/political environment.

(86,775 posts)I extended my abstinence while recovering from my surprise jet-lag. It was a good time to not have to pay attention. I just can't seem to fall back into my usual routine which is a good thing.
The rains have come again, I think I'll find other things to do like listen to some favorite tunes.

(86,775 posts)Anticipated. The good part is that I got into my damn email, found the missing document and forwarded it. And my box of things arrived today, I can plug my other laptop back in! Good thing I don't need that one for much. This one was reunited with its power cord immediately upon arrival last week.
I was kind of surprised at how much I had crammed into that box, though!

I'm hoping I can watch Rachel on YouTube tomorrow but I see what you're sayin'.

bromberg was always one of my favorites. i used to see him play about once a month at places like wise fool's pub, biddy mulligan's, etc on the north side of chicago in the late 70s and all through the 80s. i remember one time sitting at the bar at biddy's (which is where i discovered the blues as an 18 year old kid and where i first saw buddy guy, albert collins, fenton robinson, luther allison, james cotton, etc) which was right next to the stage, while bromberg was playing one night....he reached into his sport coat pocket in the middle of a song, pulled out a craftsman spark plug socket, put it on his pinky and ripped into a slide guitar solo.

(24,581 posts)Saw him a few years ago in Central Maine, only a couple of hundred folks. Also saw him in 95 at the State Theater in Portland, ME. Outstanding show, was on his 50th birthday tour.
But he was absolutely great in the 70's. Here's a great representative tune that brings out what the Dave Bromberg Band was all about...what a showman!
