I saw an art project 5 years ago with fish driving little glowing fishbowls around the gallery. The vehicles had sensors that responded to the direction the fish swam (i.e., if the fish swam left, the vehicle moved to the left); so the fish didn't have to work very hard to make the vehicle move.
