To the extreme. I can't stand waste. I rarely buy anything new if I can get it second-hand and/or fix it and/or re-purpose it somehow.

I really am very extreme about it.

There should be a 6th "R" in there between Reuse and Repurpose: Repair! So many things get needlessly discarded that can be easily fixed.

We have local Repair Fairs here at the library every month where volunteers try to repair items that people bring, in the hopes of reducing waste going into landfills.

so I buy lots of second-hand items. I shop at thrift stores and yard sales as much as I can. I do admit to pretty much buying my clothes new, though.
I have also kept a few cars out of the junkyard by repairing them. I didn't buy a new car until I was 40 years old. I always used to shop at junkyards for parts.
