I actually had a dream last night about FOIL.

FOIL.

The quadratic equation method.

First, Outer, Inner, Last.

I was desperately trying to work out a problem, for God knows what reason.

I'd probably blame my kids' math homework, but this one really crawled deep into the recesses of my subconscious mind.

Not too long ago, I spent hours thinking about the Newton-Rhapson method of solving quadratic- and higher-order equations. Hadn't thought about it in years, and I was a serious math nerd in college.
